Deerfield Beach is Broward's northern edge — the Hillsboro Canal on one side, Boca Raton immediately across it. What sets it apart from the residential cities further west is that it kept its industrial land. The bays and yards along SW 10th Street and the Newport area sit between an I-95 interchange and the Turnpike, which is why so many small importers, distributors and trade suppliers put their operations there rather than downtown.
Those businesses tend to arrive at Amazon from a different direction than a typical private-label brand. They already import. They already hold stock. They already sell into wholesale accounts. Yes — 20, 40, 45 and 53-foot equipment, LCL consignments and palletized truckload freight all check in at our Medley dock. Containers are unloaded, cartons counted against your purchase order and anything crushed, wet or short photographed as it comes off. For a small importer that is the difference between discovering a supplier problem on arrival and discovering it in an Amazon reimbursement queue three months later.
Roughly 45 miles and about 50 minutes: I-95 south, then west on the Palmetto to Okeechobee Road. It is the longest drive of any Broward city we serve, and we will not pretend otherwise. For freight it hardly matters — a drayage truck runs that leg once per container. For you personally it means a visit is an outing, not a routine, and everything else should move without you in the car.
It does, and the numbers are less lopsided than they look. Port Everglades sits about 35 minutes from our dock, so drayage south is a short, routine move that your forwarder prices by the container rather than by the hour. What you gain at the other end is proximity to Amazon's MIA1 fulfillment center in Opa-locka, roughly twelve minutes away, plus MIA air cargo ten minutes out for anything that follows by air.
Floor-loaded containers are normal work. They take longer to strip than palletized freight because every carton is handled individually, which is exactly when the count and condition record earns its keep. Cartons come off, get counted against your packing list, get palletized for storage, and prep begins from a known, verified quantity rather than an assumption printed on a document.
No on both counts, and it is better you hear that now. We are a prep and fulfillment warehouse, not a customs broker and not your Importer of Record. Your broker or freight forwarder handles entry, duties and delivery to our door — DDP terms with your supplier keep that cleanest. We take custody when the truck arrives and everything from that moment forward is ours.
If your bay is paid for and your staff are already prepping, you may not need us at all — we would rather say that than sell you something. Where we tend to earn a place is on the labor and the compliance detail: FNSKU application at case volume with a scanner check on every unit, poly bags carrying the correct warning print, and cases declared exactly as they are packed — all without hiring for a seasonal peak.
